Yes, I went to MAHA again this morning (jimat lagi RM5 duit parking coz I left at around half past 1; the staff yg jaga parking must have left for solat jumaat ;-) ), but no, I'm not talking about me.... Ptg smlm Pak Lah yg dtg. Kali ni....his wife, Datin Seri Jeanne, diiringi Dato Mustapa Mohammad and rombongan BAKTI (datin-datin la). While I was waiting for the tram near the main entrance, nampak kereta Pak Lah lalu. Sebelum tu nampak Dato Mustapa kena interview by reporters depan Hall A. Then, when I was at the Laman Sayuran, the whole entourage came. Interrupted la sekejap my conversation with Encik Osman (the one with Dato Mustapa in the photo below), whom I asked a lot about sistem fertigasi. Hari pertama, pergi berdua dgn Ayah (what a romantic way to spend our 7th anniversary! He he... :-D Takpe. Yang penting, dpt spend time together). Pergi petang, so sempat ronda2 kat the 4 exhibition halls aje, apart from beli some biji benih kat gerai Unit Pengeluaran Biji Benih MARDI near the main entrance. Kat dalam Hall D, kenyang la jugak merasa segala (well, not all) sampel air minuman and makanan termasuk buah2an tempatan. Ha, kat Hall D tu mmg ramai orang. Sape tak nak free food kan? :> Hari kedua, bawa Izzah. Adeiii..dia buat hal pulak, tak nak dok dlm pushchair langsung. Nak berdokong aje! Penat wehh... dah le memula tu tersalah naik tram (plan nak naik tram pegi ke tram stop number 3, tempat haiwan ternakan tu. Tapi terambik tram (tractor) yg round kat kawasan parking kereta la pulak! LOL. Takpe, takpe. Tram yg tu free aje. Tram yg kat dalam tu bayar rm1 for the whole day (Kids under 6 go free). Kalau nak selesa sikit, ambik la tram yg mcm bus tu. Yg tu ada so-called tourist guide who'll tell you serba sedikit pasal MAHA and also about the next tram stops (on one of our stops, our guide even informed us; "Emm..kejap ye. driver nak pegi toilet", disambut oleh gelak ketawa para passengers LOL see how informative the guides can be? Hehehe). Anyway, pagi tu, dah la kena dokong Izzah, kena tolak pushchair pulak.... Matahari dah makin tegak kat langit. Penatnye!!! Konon nak gi kat tempat haiwan ternakan tu, nak cari la the rabbits, the pony ride, the cats, etc. But I was so knackered, and Izzah wasn't cooperating, last2, after tengok lembu and kambing, kami ambik tram balik ke Stop 7 (the AgroBazaar - Hall D), bought some otak2 and air cincau, had a quick bite, then walked all the way back to the carpark sambil dokong Izzah yg dah tido, terlentok atas bahu (treid to put her down on the pushchair, but she woke up, resisted and wailed!) $-) Later in the afternoon, picked up Syakir from nursery, then brought him to MAHA (penat, tapi sebab dah janji kan). He was so excited (two years back, he enjoyed the pony ride and the tram ride). Kali ni, dah pandai, tak ambik tram salah :-D Took the tram and stopped at the Vegetable Site (Stop number 1, kalau tak silap). Wahhhh! So seronok and geram to see all the veggies...if only my vegetable garden mcm tu. Hehe.. Syakir pun seronok tgk tomato yg ranum...the chillies and capsicum, cabbages, lettuces... Nantilah, upload gambar, tgk sendiri. Kat vegetable site ni, boleh beli serba sedikit sayur2an and buah2n keluaran MARDI. Earlier in the day nampak orang bawa plastik berisi jagung, petola, etc. Teringin gak nak beli jagung MARDI. Tapi dah petang tu, jagung dah habis. So we bought some pulasan which I think was a bit mahal (RM2 utk satu piring polistyrene tu, ada dlm 15 biji kot). But puas hati lah, coz isi tebal and agak lekang. In fact, tu kali pertama seumur hidup, makan pulasan yg lekang! Then we went back to the tram stop and waited for the next tram. Tram sampai, kami pun nak. Next destination, stop number 3 lah, nak tgk animals tu. Tapi our tram (tractor) melencong sikit. Instead of the usual route, dia belok kiri menuju ke Kompleks Padi tu. Pas tu tetiba dia stop tepi jalan. Lama gak stop (kali ni takde tourist guide beitahu drebar nak ke toilet or whatever). Up ahead, ada tram yg mcm bus tu berhenti tepi jalan. Dengar desas-desus dari drebar tram kami and the driver of the tram behind us, Pak Lah ada kat Kompleks Padi tu (Hmmm...so why can't we pass through?). Lepas 10 mins or so (risau gak takut terlepas Rodeo show kul 5.30), we finally moved, passing by the tram (whose passengers are mainly from the media, looking at the kamera2 bagak they were holding) and catching a glimpse of Pak Lah, only for our driver to make a U-turn kat persimpangan jalan kat depan tu. Lepas tu barulah dia ambik normal route ke Stop number 3. We got off, and headed straight for the camels (that's what we saw first. Pelik gak. Pagi tadi, dgn Izzah, tak nampak pun camels tu. Padahal we came quite near to the place before turning back). Camels ada 2 ekor. Gajah ada 2 ekor. then Syakir nampak kuda. Nak naik kuda. Bayar RM3. Dapat satu round je. Horse-driven carriage pun ada. Pas tu Syakir nak naik gajah (RM4/person). Alamak! Ummi tak nak naik. Syakir berani ke, naik sorang2? Tak nak... Ok, so we went to the rabbits. Nak masuk bagi makan rabbit pun RM3 sorang. Amoi tu bukan main pujuk lagi suruh Ummi masuk sekali. I said, kalau u bagi free, tak apa la. Langsung dia senyap. Hehe.. Memula Syakir takut rabbit gigit tangan dia. Tapi lama2 ok je, rabbit tu makan food kat tapak tangan Syakir. Then we proceeded to khemah Zoo Negara. Ambik gambar jap dgn tiger and alligator. Pas tu masuk kat khemah parrot farm. RM2 sorang. Rusa and peacock pun ada. Then we washed our hands at the nearby tap, walked towards the nearby gerai2, got Syakir a vanilla ice-cream and some drinks for ourselves, lalu kat tempat machinery and then pegi tgk lembu and kambing. Rodeo show dah habis by then (arena tu dah lapang), but takpelah, Syakir was more interested in the animals. Took the tram, stop kat Kompleks Nenas. Ronda2 kat dalam, ambik gambar, dpt goodie bags, ambik tram back to the Agrobazaar. Syakir nampak budak2 bawa balloon, wanted one for himself, so went 'balloon-hunting' sambil beli buah mangga, dragon fruits, buah salak, and some yogurt from DadihWorld. Semua sumbat masuk knapsack. Berat! Kat Hall A, we finally spotted some balloons and Syakir dgn sopannya, pegi minta balloon from the staff at the booth ;-) Balloon dah dapat, buah dah dpt, pony ride dah dpt, jom balik. But instead of walking towards the carpark, Syakir insisted nak gi tengok gerai2 buah FAMA kat bawah tu. Oklah... Jom. Masa tu dah dekat pukul 7, so diorang tgh buat SALE buah rambutan. Ada yg 50sen sekilo. Ada yg RM1/kg. I bought 1 ikat of rambutan yg RM1 tu. The guy insisted to add another ikat, saying something like, 'nak habis cepat, kak', and he gave me some discount. Adehh...Barang dah banyak ni, tak larat nak bawa berat2 gi balik kereta. So I jokingly asked him, 'Tolong bawakan ke kereta, boleh?' LOL Tak lama lepas tu, Ayah pun call. Risau agaknya, tak sampai2 lagi chauffeur ambik dia balik kerja ni. Hehehe... Kami pun walked towards the main entrance. Nak je ajak Syakir jalan kaki ke kereta bila nampak queue panjang tunggu tram yg round kawasan parking tu. But he insisted to wait for the tram. Tak larat, katanya. Oklah...Ummi mengalah. After about 5 mins in the queue, 2 trams arrived, thus we were very soon at the front of the queue. Lama gak tunggu...tram tak sampai2. Bahu dah sakit bawa knapsack penuh. Kesian tgk makcik and pakcik behind us. They could spot their car in the parking lot, but apalah kudrat diorang nak jalan kaki all the way. Terpaksa tunggu tram. Then I realised, at this hour, ptg smlm masa dgn Ayah, the exit route was jammed! Jalan sempit, ada kereta yg park tepi jalan, and ramai org nak balik at the same time. Pelik, diorang tak bagi org exit tempat gate masuk. Instead exit ke SKVE. So I told Syakir, the tractor is stuck in the jam, we're better off walking to the car. Kalau tak, sampai ke malam tunggu tram ni. Bulan dah kelihatan dah, kat langit. So Syakir relented, and we walked, and walked, and walked. Akhirnya sampai jua ke kereta. I looked back, and told Syakir, "See, there's still no tram yg lalu. We win!". Fuhhh... penatnya. Sampai2 kereta je, azan Maghrib berkumandang. Keluarkan duit RM5, ready to pay for parking tapi bila sampai kat mamat2 yg duduk bawah payung tu, they just let us pass through. Agaknya dah lepas 7.30, diorang pun malas nak tunggu semua kereta balik kot. So, instead of joining the queue yg nak exit kat SKVE, we exited at the main gate from where we came tadi. Alhamdulillah.... Ambik Ayah kat opis, and home we went.... Malam, tido tak ingat dunia... Jam berbunyi kul 6 pagi pun rasa mcm baru kul 11mlm. Rasa mcm baru je tido.. Overall, MAHA kali ni is much, much better than the previous one. Better facilites, better transportation system (dulu, naik tram, takde bell, drebar bukannya tau passenger nak berhenti ke tak. Now ada extra staff kat passenger side, yg akan membunyikan wisel. Tram yg mcm bus tu pun ada button utk tekan bell, tapi so far I havent seen anyone pressing it). Each tram stop ada at least 2 org staff to assist visitors (they help to tahan tram for you, for example). Tram pun banyak. Cuma, yg masih slack, is sikap pengunjung sendiri. TAK RETI BERATUR! No doubt ada staff yg jenuh beritahu, "Beratur ye! Sila beratur!", tapi sedih n geram tgk pengunjung yg tak reti bahasa ni (sorry to say, mostly ADULTS). Main asak n tolak je nak naik tram (I'm very annoyed coz yang menolak is an adult, yang ditolak is a child!). That is one of the main reasons why I dare not wait for the cuti sekolah to bring my family to MAHA :-) http://zufayri.fotopages.com/?entry=1647693 Thu, 14 Aug 2008 00:00:00 GMT Kalau masa kat Sheffield dulu, Syakir seronok pegi strawberry-picking, kali ni Syakir pergi rambutan-and-pulasan-picking pulak. Ada bnyk pokok rambutan dan pulasan yang pelbagai jenis (tak semuanya manis dan lekang), but the price was very cheap (rambutan rm1/kg, pulasan rm1.50/kg) and for me, the experience yang valuable. Syakir enjoyed it, especially since we get to ride on the tractor's wagon to get to the area where pulasan trees were planted. Pokok2 pulasan pulak rendah2, even Syakir boleh tolong petik buah2nya. Izzah pulak sangat takut duduk dlm wagon tractor tu, maybe because of the loud noise of the tractor's engine. She hugged me tight like a koala and kept saying something like "Tuh! Tuh!" (tak sure whether she meant 'takut' or 'jatuh' coz the 'wall end' of the wagon was errr...open?). Bau durian and terap!!!! Malam tu jugak 'attack' buah durian and terap tu. Tak sia2 usaha Atok n Nenek berbudi pada tanah. Walaupun selalunya monyet, tupai dan kluang yang lebih dulu 'menikmati' buah2an ni, kali ni adalah jugak rezeki kami merasa buah2an exotic ni :-D Dah beberapa tahun pokok2 durian Atok tak berapa mengeluarkan hasil yang baik. Kalau ada pun, monyet n tupai yg attack dulu. So kali ni, alhamdulillah! :) Teringat masa zaman kat MRSM dulu, cuti sekolah coincide dgn musim durian and rambutan. Subuh2 dah teman Atok, bawa torchlight and tolak wheelbarrow, masuk dusun. Masa tu the harvest was bountiful. Atok would often set aside the durians - utk kami sekeluarga makan, utk diberi pada sanak sedara yg takde pokok durian, utk dijual ke pemborong, utk dijual di pondok depan rumah. Yes, we sold the durians by the roadside. Kiranya jadi 'expert' la gak masa tu, guna lidi to bersihkan the durian from daun2 n dirt yg melekat at the kulit; also from the shape n kulit, boleh agak isi durian tu camne; by looking at the tangkai, boleh tau durian tu fresh or dah lama gugur; etc, etc. Bnyk skill tu dah lupa la... :-D Since the fruits were from our own orchard, we often gave the customers a guarantee such that if the fruits were not good (ye lah, kita bukan boleh x-ray tgk isi durian tu elok ke tak elok kan?), they can return for a free exchange. Yang banyak berhenti utk beli durian were the Chinese. I remember ada sekali tu, duduk kat pondok tu dgn Oyak. Oyak dok explain kat this Chinese guy bla, bla, bla...then the guy tetiba tanya, "You cikgu kah?". Oyak tanya balik, "Macam mana you tau saya cikgu?". "Cara you cakap serupa cikgu lah!", he replied. LOL Atok kata, bebaru ni ada lah jugak orang tanya2, nak beli deghoyan. Tapi Atok declined to sell, coz buahnya tak bnyk kali ni. Atok nak simpan utk anak menantu n cucu-cucu nak makan ;-) ni yang nak ajak Ayah balik kampung lagi minggu depan... :-D (if only minyak tak mahal... :-S) Lagipun tak puas makan buah terap. Ayah pun suka. Buah terap ni (salah satu buah exotic Brunei that I like; apart from kembayau and pengalaban. Dah bertahun2 lamanya tak dapat makan pengalaban!), asalnya Nenek bawa dari Brunei. The benih, that is. Pokok terap yang ada kat Malaysia ni, jenis lain sikit. Buahnya kecik and jarang ada isi. Pokoknya serupa macam pokok sukun. Tapi buahnya 'berduri' - duri yang tak tajam. And the smell....wow! Very pungent, tapi best! Macam durian la jugak :-> Pokok terap kat rumah Atok tu tinggi! As high as a two-storey house. So bnyk buahnya yg tinggi2 tak dpt di ambil - jadi rezeki kluang and monyet la nampaknya. Cendawan kukur pun ada, tapi tak cukup kembang coz dah 2 hari tak hujan. Cadang nak teman Nenek pungut cendawan, tapi sikit sangat. Oyak would say, "buat taik gigi je..."
